Reflective Essay

I began this course in my second semester of senior year and felt as if I would struggle writing at a college level. Throughout this course I was given many resources to help me understand the topic which helped tremendously. I might have not used them to the best of my abilities but they were there when needed. I enjoy the layout of this class where it bases the whole class on one topic. It led me to find lots of in depth information over a topic I find interesting. Reading about absurd fiction through Kafka's writing I learned that unpredictability is all over the world and everyone has a different perspective on topics. This topic also led me to realize that people should try to prepare for anything possible. One might say “it would never happen to me” but unfortunately you never know. With reading about the amounts of missing children it caused me to be more mindful of my surroundings in public.

I've learned valuable information about how to prepare for college classes next year. This course has shown me the expectations professors have and what I need to focus on to get the best grades possible. I know that when I might need a reminder of in text citations or the difference between MLA and APA the resources came from this class. I have reflected on how I tend to procrastinate larger assignments and now know that when given a timeline to get it finished it’s best to follow to get the best result, rather than starting a couple of days before its due.

This course was very successful and I feel as if it has prepared me on what to expect for the next four years of college and what expectations are wanted. Professor Hammet has taught me skills that I had struggled with in the past. I can now confidently say that I can find informational resources to support my thesis.
